Wigan Athletic kicks off ‘Woottys Footy Mile’
Friday 1st March, 2013

Two work colleagues from KMI Plus, Wigan have teamed up to run a mile around the perimeter of 11 of the 19 football league grounds in the Northwest, all in twelve hours! for charity.

KMI Design Coordinator Chris Fitton and Sam James Trainee Site Engineer are hoping to raise as much money as they can in memory of their close friend and colleague Bill Wootten. Bill and his family were helped greatly by the Macmillan Nursing Team during his Bowel Cancer fight, and all proceeds from the run will go to the Macmillan Nurses Fund.

Thursday March 7th will see the lads kick off their fundraising at the DW Stadium, Wigan for their epic challenge taking place on Friday May 10th.

Wigan Athletic is 100% behind the lads ‘Wootty Mile’ and will be supporting them all the way. Latics Team Mascots Blue and Phoenix will be giving the lads a team hug for support, and Wigan Manager Roberto Martinez will be taking time out of his busy team training session, to lend his support for their worthy cause, and shake hands with the lads.

The May run will see Chris and Sam running around Carlisle United, Morecambe, Fleetwood Town, Preston North End, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic, Tranmere Rovers, Everton, Bury and Burnley’s ground, finishing off at Blackburn Rovers Ewood Park- Bills number one love!

Chris and Sam said’ Knowing Bill had such a passion for Football just like us, inspired us to come up with this idea and we will be thinking of him when we run on May 10th, we can’t wait!’

Chris and Sam would greatly appreciate all the support they can get for the massive task ahead of them; you can donate online on their just giving site: www.justgiving.com/wootty-footy-mile
