The Galleries has launched a mobile phone recycling scheme with all proceeds being donated to Wigan & Leigh Hospice.
The Galleries invites shoppers, store staff, centre staff and visitors to dispose of their old mobile phones in the recycling unit on Ashton Gallery on the upper level near to The Works. The scheme has been launched in conjunction with local school teaching assistant John Rullo, who has formed ‘Phoneraising’ to sell old mobile phones for the best prices. He does this by searching and comparing the best prices from the leading phone re-cycling companies. John then donates every penny to the Hospice.
Richard Paxton, centre director of The Galleries commented “The Galleries are proud supporters of Wigan & Leigh Hospice and by providing this recycling service, we are also helping to raise funds for them too. Whilst the majority of mobile phones are recycled, a small minority still throw away their old mobile phones, so remember to throw them our way!”
Alan Baron, Hospice Chief Executive says, “We would like to express our sincere appreciation to The Galleries and John Rullo for their kind and continued support. We would encourage everyone to recycle their old mobile phones in the shopping centre to help provide much needed funds for the hospice.”
Phone Raising ensure that the top price is paid for each recycled phone by having 30 companies bidding their highest price for each handset. Further details about John and his scheme can be found at www.phoneraising.co.uk
The Galleries have also recently introduced a printer cartridge recycling scheme for its retailers. All proceeds from this scheme are also donated to Wigan & Leigh Hospice.
