|Wigan Council Leader to discuss budget proposals on Twitter
The Leader of Wigan Council will be taking to Twitter to answer public questions on budget proposals for the year ahead.
Lord Peter Smith will use his own personal Twitter account - @Lord_PeterSmith - on Wednesday 13th February between 6pm and 7pm to welcome public enquiries on the councilís approach to the budget proposals, the key priorities where money will be spent and how finances will be managed.
Lord Peter Smith, Leader of Wigan Council, said:
Since Wigan received the third highest cuts in Britain, tough decisions have been made to ensure we manage our money wisely and invest it in the service areas which need it most. With more than £18 million to save over the next year, Iím really interested to hear the views of residents on the proposals we are putting forward.
I am now looking forward to hearing public views on the budget proposals and answering any questions people may have using popular social media tools like Twitter will allow me to reach a wide audience and I will be live for an hour to provide quick responses to their enquiries.
People can tweet Lord Peter Smith directly with a question about the budget proposals using the hashtag #LeaderListens.
