|Healthwatch Wigan recruiting voluntary Chairperson and Trustees
Are you someone with a passion for making things better? Do you think you could make a positive contribution to how health and social care services are delivered in Wigan Borough?
Healthwatch Wigan is a new independent not for profit organisation, scheduled for launch on 1st April 2013, which aims to represent the views of local people including those who use health and care services so they can help shape how services are delivered.
Wigan Council’s Cabinet Member for Adults and Health and Chair of Wigan's Health and Wellbeing Board, Cllr Keith Cunliffe says: “We’re looking for dedicated people who believe they have the skills and commitment to become members of the Healthwatch Wigan Board. We are looking to appoint a Chairperson and nine Trustees who can drive the organisation forward. They will play a significant role in developing the strategy, direction, business objectives and customer focus of Healthwatch Wigan, and they will maintain strong working relationships with Wigan Council, NHS and the local Health and Wellbeing Board.”
Healthwatch Wigan will be responsible for gathering views and understanding the experiences of people who use local services, and promoting and supporting the involvement of people in the commissioning and provision of local care services and how they are scrutinised.
The organisation will have the powers to recommend investigations or special reviews of services via Healthwatch England or directly to the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Wigan Council is co-ordinating the recruitment campaign. Candidates are able to apply for one or both of the roles. Two information events will be held prior to the application deadline so that people who are interested can find out more about the roles by attending one of the events before deciding whether to apply.
The information events will be in Leigh on Monday 7th Jan at 7pm and Hindley on Tuesday 15th Jan at 1pm; those interested in attending are advised to contact email@example.com
Candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising of representatives from the Healthwatch steering group, members of the Community and Voluntary Sector, Wigan Council and NHS representatives. Training and support will be provided for the successful candidates.
An application pack can be downloaded from the Healthwatch Wigan website http://healthwatchwigan.org or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
