Planning Application Fees Change
Wednesday 21st November, 2012

The government has recently announced that planning application fees will be increased by 15% from 22 November. Planning fees have not been increased since 2008 and after considering a number of options, the Government has opted for a 15% increase across the board nationally.

Planning applications submitted on or after 22 November will incur the new charges. Wigan Council has published a full schedule of all the new fees on the planning pages of its website. If any applicant is in doubt of the correct fees, they should email: validation@wigan.gov.uk.

Applications can be made by made by post, in person at the Wigan Life Centre (north site) on The Wiend, or online through the Planning Portal at www.planningportal.gov.uk. Payment by chip and pin and by cheque are accepted at the Wigan Life Centre: the council no longer accepts cash payments.

A council planning officer is on duty at the Wigan Life Centre (north site) at the Wiend between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. The planning officer will be able to advise members of the public considering putting in planning applications and deal with any matters relating to applications already submitted.
