|Wiganís Christmas Light Switch On was a cracker!

Last night thousands of people flocked to Market Place in Wigan Town Centre to watch Wiganís Christmas Light Switch On event. The event which was organised by Wigan Town Centre Management, The Galleries and Grand Arcade was packed full of free festive family entertainment which launched late night shopping in the town with stores open until 8pm.
The evening included a performance by 2012 XFactor finalist Kye Sones who wowed the audience!
Other performances included BBCs The Voice star Frances Wood, Britainís Got Talent Star Olivia Archbold and CBBCís favourite Hacker T Dog!! Wiganís very own Scott Chapman, local band Boomin, girl band Bon Bonz, Zoe Unsworth, Sharon Tembo and fabulous duo One Voice also performed and wooed the crowd. The Rugby League World Cup Trophy was also on stage and was available for photographs in the Grand Arcade after the switch on event. Wigan Warriors stars Darrell Goulding and Harrison Hanson appeared on stage wearing their new shirts. Mascots and dancers from Wigan Athletic danced on stage while former Latics Player and Club Legend Neill Rimmer was interviewed on stage too.

ďWigan Town Centre Management, The Galleries and Grand Arcade organised a fabulous 2012 Christmas Light Switch-on event, it was amazing to see the huge crowds in Market Place. The live performances were superb and kept the crowds entertained. We are now excited about the Santa and Reindeer parade on Sunday which leaves Mesnes Park at 1pm.Ē
Radio presenter Danny Bee along with local favourite Luke Marsden welcomed all the acts on stage and also gave away lots of goodies including chocolates from Thorntons, gifts from The Royal Perfumery, vouchers from Toni & Guy and competitions to win meals at Gallimores Fine Restaurant too! All the guest stars joined together on stage at 7pm when Wiganís Christmas Lights lit up the town!
The competition to have a personal audience with Xfactor finalist Kye Sone attracted a huge number of entries! And the lucky winner Hannah Siney brought along 6 of her friends was delighted to have won the competition!
The competition to win 2 x VIP Backstage passes for the switch on was won by Emma and Lee Tudor who thoroughly enjoyed watching the event from their exclusive front row seats.
The townís final Christmas event, the Santa and Reindeer parade takes place on Sunday 18 November, starting at 1pm from Mesnes Park arriving at Market Place in the town centre at 1.30pm. The parade includes marching bands, costume characters, mascots and much, much more. Following the parade, Santa and his reindeers will remain in Market Place along with the performers until 4pm.
