|XFactor finalist Kye Sones turning on Wigan's Christmas lights
Wigan Town Centre Management, The Galleries and Grand Arcade have announced that XFactor Finalist Kye Sones is performing at Wigan Town Centre Christmas Light Switch on Event on Thursday 15 November!
Kye Sones, 30, former chimney sweep from London performed Jason Mraz’s ‘I won’t give up’ giving a strong performance during the live finals. Gary Barlow mentored Kye during 2012 XFactor Finals. Rita Ora and No Doubt performed at the live finals, but Kye faced a vote off by the judges alongside Rylan, who together faced deadlock. Xfactor host Dermot O’Leary then announced that Kye received the lowest number of public votes and was leaving the 2012 finals during the results show on Sunday evening.
Wigan’s Christmas Light Switch on Event takes place between 4 and 7.30pm on Thursday 15 November in Market Place in the town centre and includes 2012 XFactor Finalist Kye Sones and Hacker T Dog from BBC Children's TV show Hacker Time. Radio presenter Danny Bee and Luke Marsden are hosting the evening’s events on the huge 50ft stage and will be welcoming a fabulous selection of acts including: Olivia Archbold, One Voice, Bon Bonz local singer Zoe Unsworth, local band Boomin and Wigan’s very own Scott Chapman. The Rugby League World Cup trophy will also be on stage during the evening too. After the event finishes at 7.30pm, fans will then be offered the opportunity to have their photos taken alongside the Rugby World Cup Trophy where it will be displayed in the Grand Arcade shopping centre.

The Santa and Reindeer parade takes place on Sunday 18 November, starting at 1pm from Mesnes Park arriving at Market Place in the town centre at 1.30pm. The parade includes marching bands, costume characters and much, much more. Following the parade, Santa and his reindeers remain in Market Place along with the performers until 4.30pm. Wigan Town Centre management, The Galleries and Grand Arcade have joined together to organise the town’s 2012 Christmas events. The Christmas light switch on event launches late night shopping in the town with shops open until 8pm.
