|Man suffers serious head injury - Wigan
Police in Wigan want to hear from anyone who can tell them how a 60-year-old man came to suffer a life-threatening head injury.
In the early hours of today, Monday 8 October 2012, police received a report from Wigan Royal Infirmary that a man had been brought in with a serious head injury.
He is currently in a critical condition in hospital.
It is believed the man suffered his injury outside Chicago Rock on King Street some time around 1.30am today.
It is believed he fell backwards onto the pavement.
Detective Inspector Martin Reddington, of Wigan CID, said: "Our investigation is at an early stage, however we can say that he was involved in an altercation outside Chicago Rock on King Street and CCTV clearly shows him stumbling backwards across the road and falling to the ground where he bangs his head and receives serious head injuries.
"This is why we are appealing for anyone who was around the King Street area at the time - between 1am and 2.30am today - and who may have seen what happened to this man to come forward and speak to us.
"We need to establish the man's movements leading up to him receiving his injuries.
"We have a team of detectives working on this but need the public's help."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Wigan CID on 0161 856 7770 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
