|Man dies following collision in Appley Bridge, Wigan
A man has died following a collision in Appley Bridge in the early hours of this morning.
The collision happened at around 12.45am on Back Lane in Appley Bridge, Wigan on Sunday 30 September 2012.
The 25-year-old victim was driving a red Honda coupe along Back Lane towards its junction with Skull House Lane, when the car collided with a stationary private-hire minibus, which was parked outside an address as passengers were being dropped off.
Paramedics attended and the 25-year-old man, who was from the Leigh area, was found to have suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one else was injured during the collision, but the driver of the minibus was treated for shock.
Police Constable Mark Potter from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts go out to the family of the man that died this morning and our officers are supporting them as best we can at this tragic time.
“If anyone was around the Back Lane or surrounding area of Appley Bridge in the lead up to 12.45am today and witnessed this collision, then please get in touch with us.
“You may think that what you saw was only something minor, but we are trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding this morning’s collision and are keen to hear from anyone with any details that can assist our investigation.”
