|Meet the Buyers at Wigan Business Expo Twenty12
Businesses, third sector organisations and social enterprises are being encouraged to put their name in the frame for a series of Meet the Buyers sessions at this year’s Wigan Business Expo Twenty12.
Businesses from across the borough and beyond will be attending the prestigious event on Friday 12 October at the DW Stadium. Organisers are keen to hear from local suppliers, contractors and service providers from across Wigan Borough.
Meet the Buyers provides a unique opportunity for organisations to directly pitch to a buyer on a one-to-one basis in a dedicated 15 minute session, giving them an opportunity to build new relationships and to showcase their products and services with a view to potentially doing business.
The buyers available at this year’s event are:
Deputy council leader Cllr David Molyneux, whose portfolio includes the local economy, says: “Meet the Buyers is a major part of Wigan Business Expo. The sessions offer an excellent opportunity to establish whether parties can do business together and may well lead to further discussions.”
- Tina Devine from Chamber Plus, an initiative from Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce which brings members significant cost savings on their indirect business costs. Tina will be looking for suppliers which provide products and services that benefit Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and fall under the category of indirect spend.
- Mark Foster, marketing manager at the Rugby League World Cup 2013, the biggest sporting event to be held in the UK after the Olympics and includes venues in our borough. Mark is looking to procure medical equipment, printing and event stationary, equipment, monitoring and evaluation, signage and accommodation for spectators.
- Brian Mangan from Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust is looking for building contractors; estate and facilities management; medical equipment; catering services; and social care services.
- Susan Foster and Michelle Greenwood from Wigan Council are looking for organisations who can deliver products and services to users of social care services including accessibility equipment; day care; home care; training; transport; and counselling to name but a few.
Cllr Molyneux adds: “Several previous participants in Meet the Buyers have reported securing contracts as a result of their meeting at Wigan Business Expo, so I would encourage businesses, third sector organisations and social enterprises to take advantage of this great opportunity and apply for appointments.”
Staged in 15 minute intervals, Meet the Buyer sessions must be booked in advance. Organisations can apply for an appointment by registering their interest at www.wiganbusinessexpo.co.uk Applications must be received by 9.00am on Tuesday 18th September.
Buyers will make the final decision on who they would like to meet. In the event of the buyers approving more applications than there are appointments available, priority will be given to organisations based in Wigan Borough, and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
In addition to Meet the Buyers, Wigan Business Expo Twenty12 will also include an exhibition of 120 businesses, a seminar programme and free, impartial one-to-one advice from experts across a variety of different disciplines. It is free to attend and there is no need to pre-register – just turn up on the day.
