Robbery at Billinge garage
Thursday 2nd August, 2012

A staff member at a garage was threatened with a crowbar during a robbery in Wigan.

At around 8.55pm on Tuesday 31 July 2012, three men walked into The Euro Garage on Upholland Road, Billinge and approached the cashier.

One of the men demanded he gave him money and threatened him with a crowbar.

Fearing for his safety, the staff member backed off into a nearby toilet where one of the men forced the door closed so he could not get out.

They then stole cash and cigarettes before driving off in a black Seat Leon which was parked outside with a fourth person in the vehicle. They then made off towards Orrell.

One man is described as being white, 5ft 7ins tall and of slim build. He wore dark clothes, had his face covered and held a baseball bat.

A second man is described as being white, wore a baseball cap, had his face covered and held a crowbar.

Detective Constable Debbie Pennington from Wigan CID said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or saw anything suspicious to contact police.

“We believe the car was a Seat Leon with a 09 reg. If you saw a car similar to this parked at the garage or speeding away at the time of the robbery, I would urge you to call us.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 7251 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
