|Wigan and the Philosopher’s Stone!
WLCT Library Assistant Karen Blackledge posts her entry
IS the UK’s biggest Harry Potter fan here in Wigan and Leigh?
If you know the difference between Quidditch and Beedle the Bard or Parseltongue and a basilik then you need to visit your local library!
Publisher’s Bloomsbury is inviting fans to write a letter of no more than 50 words explaining why you love Harry Potter. They want to find the most creative, clever and entertaining reasons why!
Entrants will be in with a chance of winning a family holiday to experience the magic and excitement of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter only at Universal Orlando Resort and a leather-bound, signed, dedicated and numbered 15th Anniversary Edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Rob Sanderson, from Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust (WLCT), said: “All of our libraries are taking part in this competition so please come down and find out more.
“The Harry Potter series has been a global phenomena that has encouraged millions of children to read, so it’s only right that we celebrate 15 years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was first published.”
The competition has a strict 50 word limit, entrants are encouraged to draw, doodle and make their letters as elaborate as possible.
Harry Potter fans can only enter by visiting a local bookshop or library and posting their letter in the specially designed postboxes. More than 1800 bookshops and libraries nationally have already signed up to take part.
The competition runs from Tuesday 26th June to Tuesday 31st July 2012.
The winner and runners up will be announced on Saturday 1 September.
