|Another Christmas Spectacular in Wigan Town Centre
Thousands of people gathered in the town centre today, to watch Santa and his reindeer parade which was part of the 2011 Wigan Town Centre Christmas events.
The parade included Santa, his team of reindeer and over 300 people including; a Pipe Band, Wiggy (Town Centre Mascot), along with other mascots for Chicago Rock, Wigan Athletic, Cash Converters, Wigan Warriors, Taybarns with their elves. Other groups involved were: Diva Dance, Wigan Athletic Dancers, Stage Express, LA Dance Academy, Anvil Street Drummers, Wigan Warriors Cheerleaders, Footlights Theatre School and Funk Street Dance, vehicles from Leyland Transport Museum and a horse & carriage too!
Santa and his team of reindeer remained in Market Place until 4pm to have photos taken with the families who turned up for the event.

“The 2011 Christmas events have provided Wigan with a Christmas spectacular! The town’s Christmas light switch on event on Thursday attracted thousands in Market Place to watch the free entertainment and of course X Factor finalists The Risk. The Santa and reindeer parade is a popular event, it’s wonderful to see the crowds turn out and enjoy this annual event in Wigan Town Centre.”
The event, organised by Wigan Town Centre Management The Galleries and Grand Arcade, was packed full of festive, free family entertainment.
