|Man has part of ear bitten off
A man had part of his ear bitten off.
The attack happened at the Traditional Fish and Chips takeaway on Wallgate, Wigan, at about 4.45am on Saturday 7 August 2010.
The victim, 20, had got into an argument with the offender, who then leant in as if to whisper something but bit off part of the man's left ear and spat it out.
He then ran off.
Police are now appealing to anyone who has information to come forward.
The offender was said to be about 5ft 10in tall and wearing a yellow jumper.
Detective Constable Rob Kitchen said: "What started out as an argument ended up with a young man having part of his ear bitten off.
"Thankfully, incidents involving this level of violence are rare and I would stress this appears to be a one-off attack prompted by an argument between the two parties.
"We have launched an investigation to establish exactly what happened and I am appealing to anyone who either witnessed what happened or has information to come forward.
"The attacker was seen to run off down Wallgate in a yellow jumper. This happened at a time when people would have been leaving bars so there are potentially a lot of people who saw this man running away.
"If you do have information, then please call us."
