|Man attacked outside bar
A man had to have stitches to close a head wound after he was assaulted in Wigan.
It happened outside the Mad Jacks Restaurant and Bar on Wigan Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield, at about 1.10am on 13 June 2010.
The man, 27, was walking past the restaurant when he got into a row with a group of men.
This turned violent and the man was wrestled to the ground and kicked in the face and body numerous times. He was left with a cut to his head that needed stitches at hospital.
Police are now appealing to anyone who has information to come forward.
One of the offenders is described as white, about 6ft tall, with a shaved head and of a stocky build.
Detective Constable Kath Andrews, of Wigan CID, said: "Our investigation remains in its early stages so it is not clear exactly what happened, who was involved or how this scuffle broke out.
"What we can say with certainty is the man had to have stitches to close a head wound, so he was clearly attacked with some ferocity.
"We need to identify those responsible and show them that violence will be severely dealt with. I would appeal to anyone who has information to come forward. There would have been quite a lot of people outside the club at the time of the attack, so I would ask that if anyone does know something, they call us."
Anyone with information should call Wigan CID on 0161 856 7259 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
