|More Stars Revealed For Wigan Life “Tuned-In” Concerts
CHART topping rapper Tinie Tempah, French tenor Amaury Vassili, infectious pop indie punk band Twenty Twenty and new boy band The Wanted are all set to appear at the Wigan Life “Tuned-In” Concerts this summer.
Special guests and support acts for July’s five night musical celebration in Haigh Country Park, Wigan were revealed today.
They will join headline acts McFly, The Saturdays, N-Dubz and Alesha Dixon and Katherine Jenkins for the biggest concert series in Wigan’s history.
Ronan Keating’s support act has yet to be confirmed.
Chris Walne is the concert organiser for Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust. He said: “We’re delighted such strong acts are coming to Wigan to support a line-up of this calibre.
“This will be a massive event that will offer people the chance to see some of the UK’s best acts in a wonderful setting.
“Wigan will be the place to party this summer!”
Tinie Tempah hit the UK number one spot in March with ‘Pass Out’ while Amaury Vassili has already had a platinum selling album in his home country. Twenty Twenty and The Wanted are both tipped for the top over the next few months.
McFly will be supported by Essex pop trio Twenty Twenty on Monday July 5. Special guest Tinie Tempah will perform ahead of N-Dubz - who have just released new single “Dance On” - and Alesha Dixon on Tuesday July 6.
On Wednesday Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins will be joined by rising French tenor Amaury Vassili. Thursday July 8 will see The Saturdays and five piece hot new pop proposition The Wanted.
Chris added: “This will be a summer to remember and the start of Wigan’s bid to become one of the top venues for outdoor concerts. It’s also a chance for people to say ‘we were there at the first ever Haigh Concerts’.”
The Wigan Life Tuned-In Concerts series is part of a much wider “summer of sound” planned across Wigan in 2010. On July 4 the borough’s best unsigned acts will be able to perform at the arena ahead of the concert series for the 2010 Haigh Fest. This free annual celebration of the borough’s best unsigned bands is now in its eighth year. Immediately following the Wigan Life Tuned-In Concerts Wigan’s 25th International Jazz Festival (10 July to 17 July) will start at Robin Park.
