|Woman sexually assaulted in Bickershaw
A woman was sexually assaulted in Bickershaw.
The victim was walking along Bickershaw Lane around 4.30pm on Sunday 23 May 2010, when a man rode up to her on a bike.
He grabbed her wrist and took her into a field off Smiths Lane and Bickershaw Lane.
The 40-year-old woman fainted and when she woke up, some of her clothing had been removed.
She went to a nearby house and reported the incident around 5.25pm.
The man is described as white, in his late 20s to early 30s, 5ft 7ins tall with stubble on his head and clean shaven. He was wearing black shorts but no top and had a hoop earring and was on a bike.
Detective Constable Kath Andrews of Wigan CID said: "Thankfully incidents like this are rare in the area.
"It is very important that we catch this man before he can commit such an awful crime again, so I would urge people to think back to Sunday afternoon.
"The weather was very good and if you were out near to Bickershaw Lane and saw something suspicious, please get in touch.
"We do not know how long the woman fainted so any information you have could be vital to the investigation."
