Man wanted after failing to return to prison - Wigan
Wanted: Alfred Adams

Police are appealing for the public's help in tracing a Wigan man who has absconded from prison.

Alfred Adams (born 04/08/1978) lived in the Platt Bridge area before his imprisonment and failed to return to HMP Kirkham on 21 March 2010 after a scheduled visit out.

He was sentenced to a 12-year sentence for burglary in 2006.

Adams is described as a white man, aged 31, about 5ft 8in tall, of stocky build with brown hair and blue eyes. He has a 4in scar on his right cheek.

Adams was born in Leeds.

Police Constable Dan Fish, based at Wigan Police Station, said: "Adams needs to go back to serve out the rest of his sentence and by absconding is prolonging the time he eventually spends behind bars.

"If you see him or know where he is, please contact police."

Anyone with information is asked to call police in Wigan on 0161 856 7436 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, 0800 555 111.
