AWARD winning hip hop group N-Dubz and pop songstress Alesha Dixon are set to appear at this summer’s Wigan Life “Tuned-In” concert series.
The double headline night, on the Tuesday of the concert series, will also see support acts by rapper MC Tinie Tempha and McLean.
It means the full line-up for the five night open air concert series can be revealed for the first time.
Pop rockers McFly will kick off the concert series on Monday 5 July followed by N-Dubz/Alesha Dixon on Tuesday 6 July, Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins on Wednesday 7 July, pop girl band The Saturdays on Thursday 8 July. The Friday night finale will see Irish pop superstar Ronan Keating take to the stage.
The event is being organised by Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust (WLCT) in partnership with Wigan Council.
Pete Burt, WLCT’s executive director for service development, said: “We promised something for everyone and we’ve delivered a fantastic line-up bringing some of the biggest names to Wigan for the first and biggest concert series in the borough’s history.”
It’s hoped the concerts will provide a major boost to the local economy, enhance the cultural opportunities for people living in Wigan, and across neighbouring regions, and bring a “feelgood” factor to 2010.
The concerts will take place in the grounds of Wigan’s Grade II listed manor house Haigh Hall.
Tickets for N-Dubz/Alesha Dixon will go on sale this Thursday 1 April and are available from national ticketing partner Ticketmaster on 0844 847 2386 or visit www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
Tickets can also be purchased by visiting Wigan Tourist Information Centre, Wallgate, Wigan. Please note Ticketmasters booking fee will still apply.
The Wigan Life Tuned-In Concerts series is part of a much wider “summer of sound” planned across Wigan in 2010. On 4 July the borough’s best unsigned acts will be able to perform at the arena ahead of the concert series for the 2010 Haigh Fest. This free annual celebration of the borough’s best unsigned bands is now in its eighth year. Immediately following the Wigan Life Tuned-In Concerts Wigan’s 25th International Jazz Festival (10 July to 17 July) will start at Robin Park.
