|Sustainability Comes to Pem
What’s stopping you from using the bus instead of the car?
A good number of road journeys could easily be taken by using public transport, but for many, questions about ticket cost, timetables and which services go where seem to get in the way of actually swapping the car for a bus.
And so, the council’s local transport and road safety team have joined up with Arriva buses to promote the use of sustainable travel. Everyone is invited, and the venue couldn’t be easier to get to.
Situated on one of the key routes in the borough, Pemberton is served by 21 buses each hour each direction with routes available for travel to Wigan, Wigan Infirmary and Wrightington Hospital, Standish, Shevington, Gathurst, Orrell, Skelmersdale, Ormskirk and Southport.
There’s an invitation to see the latest bus information from 10am to 4pm in the town centre on Thursday 25 February. Look out for the latest model of Arriva bus in Chapel Street.
Cllr David Molyneux is the council’s cabinet champion for the environment. He says: “Improvements have been made to bus infrastructure and services in Pemberton including modern shelters and level access bus stops. Please come along to find out about local transport services from the experts.”
As well as detailed public transport information, there will be a chance to see the next generation in buses, plus a competition to win free bus travel on Arriva bus services.
