Roofing slates stolen from site
Tuesday 23rd February, 2010

Thousands of pounds worth of roofing slates have been stolen from a derelict mill site in Wigan.

Between 5pm on Wednesday 10 February 2010 and 12pm on Thursday 18 February the slates were stolen from a roof on the Eckersley Mill site on Swan Meadow Road.

A number of the slates were stacked up and not on the roof.

Police Constable Stephen Lilley from the Wigan Public Service Team said: "It is not known how the offenders got in, or how they stole these slates.

"We do know, however, that they are worth a lot of money and I would appeal to anyone who may be offered them, or may have seen the theft, to call us."

Anyone with any information is asked to call the police on 0161 872 5050 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
