Have Your Say In Shaping The Future Of Your Community
Monday 22nd February, 2010

Wigan Council is striving to create a community where people matter and you can afford to live the life you want.

In a pledge to ensure every resident across Wigan Borough is treated fairly and gets the support they need, Wigan Council is giving you the chance to shape the future with the consultation on its Single Equality Scheme.

Getting involved will give you the chance to have your say on issues as varied as transport, safe communities, living longer and healthier lives, the economy and climate change. This will help us to understand the big issues for people living in the Borough, and make a real difference.

Councillor Ged Bretherton, the Council’s Equality Champion says: “Ensuring everyone in the Borough is treated fairly and gets the support they need, is at the heart of everything we want to achieve. We believe that everyone should be able to access the same opportunities no matter who you are, or where you live. We want to make life fairer for everyone and help everyone achieve their ambitions"

If you have not yet had your say and want to help shape a fairer future you can complete the consultation online at www.wigan.gov.uk/equalitydiversity, send an email to e.mackay@wigan.gov.uk, or call 01942 487361 to request a form.

We need everyone’s comments back by Friday 12th March 2010 so that we can finalise our priorities and start acting on them.

Throughout March and early April the final set of priorities for the Borough will be agreed with Cabinet and management teams. From April 2010 we will start actions on our priority areas and keep you up to date with what’s happening.
