|Christmas and New Year Waste Collections
The council is reminding residents about changes to bin services on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Those households due a collection on Friday 25 December will have their bins emptied on Sunday 27 instead. That will also be the day for any recycling services if they are due.
January 1 2010 collections have changed to the Saturday, 2 January instead.
All other collection days remain the same but may be amended in excessive weather conditions - check the council's website for details.
There will also be a collection for green bins between Monday 11 and Friday 22 January on residents’ regular collection day. Residents can use this collection for their unwanted ‘real’ Christmas trees and any clean, brown cardboard.
With plenty of food and drink being enjoyed over the holidays, residents are being asked to recycle as much of their Christmas waste as possible. Residents can use their brown bins for glass bottles and jars, as well as food and drink cans and also plastic drinks bottles. There are also over 150 handy “bring sites”, located at supermarkets and pub car parks across the borough.
Cllr David Molyneux, the cabinet’s environment champion, says: “Have a green Christmas and recycle as much as you can.”
Collection services today (Monday 21) have been postponed because of excessive ice and snow.
