|Do The Timewarp Again - Back to the Future II
It’s time to get plastered at Wigan Investment Centre.
The latest in a series of heritage themed construction events running throughout November is coming to the borough and it’s aimed at attracting architects, engineers, contractors and designers from all over the region.
Entitled Back to the Future II, the two-day event aims to encourage professionals working within the modern construction industry to learn new skills around the preservation and conservation of old and historic buildings.
Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and delivered by the Heritage Trust for the North West, Back to the Future will be looking at practical skills such as joinery and mortar and plaster mixing.
The event is one of three that have taken place as part of the council’s Wigan Pier Quarter Townscape Heritage Initiative. The events all aim to raise awareness about heritage and conservation skills.
Wigan Council’s Cabinet Champion for Regeneration Cllr David Molyneux says: “The events that have taken place so far have proved to be really popular and have captured people’s imagination about the building industry and the borough’s heritage.
“There are a number of really exciting building projects taking place in our borough at the moment that will all bring modern, iconic new facilities to Wigan. It is great that at the same time as this we are looking back to the past and celebrating the great architectural history our borough has.”
Back to the Future II takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday November 25/25 at Wigan Investment Centre and the Way We Were and everyone attending will receive a special certificate.
