|Tribute paid to collision victim
The family of a pensioner who died after colliding with a car while on his mobility scooter in Wigan have paid tribute.
Peter Carroll, 76, of Lancaster Road, Wigan, was taken to Wigan Hospital with a head injury and multiple fractures to his right leg after he was in collision with a a silver Ford Focus about 11am on Saturday 7 November 2009 on Scot Lane, Pemberton.
Peter was crossing the road on his mobility scooter at the time.
He was taken to hospital but died as a result of his injuries.
His 68-year-old sister, Ann Jackson, who lives in the Springfield area of Wigan, paid the following tribute to her brother, whom she made contact with after she was orphaned.
She said: “I did not meet Peter until I was 21 - since then we’ve always been very close. I will always remember him as a very kind and caring man, a real saint, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.”
