Knife robber steals cash at bookies

A man armed with a large knife stole cash during a robbery at a betting shop in Wigan.

The offender went into Coral Racing on Orrell Road, Orrell at 7.45pm on Thursday 15 October 2009, and jumper over the counter.

The robber grabbed cash and then ran out of the store.

The victim was not injured but was extremely shaken by the ordeal.

Detective Constable Kath Andrews from Wigan CID said: "This man armed himself with a dangerous weapon and terrified the woman working in the shop. I would urge anyone that may know who is responsible for this robbery to call police so we can make sure no one else falls victim to his greed."

The offender is described as white, 6ft to 6ft 2in tall, of slim build, aged mid to late 20s and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a black hooded top, black gloves and armed with a large kitchen knife.
