The sights, sounds and scents of the souk…
The warm flavours of middle-eastern cuisine…
The mystical, sand-hued textures of North African cloth and ceramics…
It can only be…Wigan!
Once again the ever-popular continental market is set to make a return to the town centre next month and this time it’s definitely ‘moorish’.
The market will be returning to Wigan Town Centre from Wednesday November 4 until Sunday November 8 and this time it’s going to be a full-blown Tunisian Bazaar.
There will be hand-crafted leather goods, tiles, pottery and tajines, carved wooden and glass ornaments and the mouth-watering delights of Tunisian spices, olives and dried fruit and nuts.
The event will be recreating a traditional Tunisian Souk Market right in the heart of Wigan town centre.
Wigan Town Centre Manager Mike Matthews says: “The continental market is very popular with town centre shoppers and in the summer we tried our first taste of Tunisia as an experiment. It was a great success so now it’s back by popular demand.
“The market is just one way that we are showing what an exciting and attractive shopping experience Wigan Town Centre. Who knows you might even pick up a distinctive early Christmas present or two if you come to the market.”
The market will be open from 9am until 5pm Wednesday to Saturday and from 11am until 4pm on Sunday.
