|Tribute to RTC victim - Wigan
The family of a 19-year-old woman who died following a traffic collision in Wigan has today, Saturday 29 August 2009, paid tribute to her.
Phillipa Campbell from Hawkley Hall, was a passenger in an MG sports car when it collided with a fence on Warrington Road (A49) in Newtown, at 3am on Friday 28 August 2009.
Police and fire officers found Phillipa, and a 21-year-old man, trapped inside the car.
Both had to be cut free and were taken to Royal Wigan Hospital.
Phillipa died a short time later. The man, aged 21, remains in a critical condition.
Phillipa's family paid the following tribute:
"Phillipa was a beautiful 19-year-old girl with her whole future ahead of her. She was really looking forward to starting university in September at Edge Hill, studying criminology and sociology.
"She was full of life, a happy smiling, well-loved and popular girl who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
"The hearts of her parents and brother are broken in two and will never be mended. Phillipa had a heart of gold, she was our beautiful golden girl. We cannot believe that we will never see her beautiful smile again."
