For many years, a splendid memorial dedicated to all the brave soldiers that served Queen,and Country, in the Boer War, was positioned at this location. It was a statue of a soldier wearing his chindit style hat, holding in his right hand the standard, and if my memory serves me right, his rifle, in his other hand. He was sculptured in full uniform.
