Comments Nice site but you are using the wrong town crest. Yours is the Metro crest that includes Atherton, Tyldesley, Leigh etc, towns in their own right that are nothing to do with Wigan. One of the two old genuine Wigan crests would be more appropriate.

How did you find wiganworld?    Searched internet after reading George Orwell Biog
Comments I expected Wigan to be a grotty northern mining town full of Dickens "dark, stanic mills", smoky and nothing but a big slum. Whoa, am I surprised. I had no idea it would be so historic and so beautifull, judging by this site. Even the famous "pier" has been restored. Based on this site, next time I'm in England I will definately stop off at Wigan for a few days. This site is excellent, especially enjoyabel are the pictures and teh dictionary of "Wigonian". Cheers.

Comments Looks like you put that 'O' level in Art class to good use Brian. Was it Miss. Foster or Miss. Gascol we had for art. You were always better than me anyway. I sat next to you in the 4th and 5th year as I recall at Park High :)

Comments Hi Brian: Wow, I don't know who told me about your site, but I thank them! Haven't read everything, yet so I'll be back in.
My direct line of ancestors are from Wigan. My gg-Grandfather/mother (Robert Unsworth)/Sarah Ellen Wareing)immigrated to Canada from Wigan in the early 1900's. Am working on my family tree and my sister and I will be visiting Wigan in September, 2002 to conduct family research. Looking forward to visiting Wigan!. . . .Connie
