Over on message boards folk asking what happened to the planned RSPCA Wigan branch and hospital after fund raising...

Two minutes of research finds this https://m.facebook.com/rspcawigan/

I was having a discussion with someone last week and I mentioned that you never hear of the Wigan RSPCA nowadays, i.e. no newsletters, raffles or street/supermarket collections, I was a volunteer there until five years ago and the newsletters and raffles were always very popular, I and other volunteers would contribute with relevant news articles and begged raffle prizes from shops etc., we always had a good laugh at those times too, especially when stuffing envelopes with newsletters and raffle tickets which passed the time as it was repetitive. Though when a new chairperson was elected volunteers were emailed to keep away from the office unless called in, prior to that we always called in to do odd jobs around the office etc., I and a lot of the other volunteers drifted away after that.

The Branch website is just a standard webpage now giving the briefest of information, at one time it was full of useful information and with plenty of articles about the branch activities, the website then was looked after by a volunteer too.

There's a rumour going around that a merger with Bolton RSPCA may be on the cards at a future date, sad day for Wigan, Leigh & District if it comes to fruition.

I too replied to the request for information on 3rd September.
