Yes it was the Britannia.

The very first North Sea drilling rig that I worked on was owned by Santa Fe and called the Britannia as well

The blue coach folk where kept in rooms at the rear of the hotel facing the hillside.

Gold coachers had lake view rooms and for a coach package hotel the Britannia was very nice with excellent food.

This is the hotel.

There's nothing to brag about, going to that hotel on a Shearings coach (whether it's blue or gold). It's got the worst reviews I've ever seen and most are centred around the place being monopolised by loud British OAPs on coach trips. Very Happy

“Mealtimes a complete shambles”

“Poor standard of hotel with a fancy name. I was nearly in tears and asked for a room change,”

"don't go there! ... hotel was shabby, food was poor, to obtain food, it was like a rugby scrum”

“the worst hotel ever visited”

“Don't touch this place with a barge pole!”

“The worst holiday ever!!!!!”

“NEVER AGAIN!!”

“Stay Here At Your Peril”

"Health and Safety issues in dining room"

“Italian Fawlty Towers”

“urrgh!”

Maybe some people who dont travel much and dont know nothing about food dont like it but I do and I liked it.

What was rubbish for me was the cheap free drinks from 08.30 to 23.00 but the bar was always packed and I didnt here anybody from the blue coaches complaining ab out them.

Wasnt bragging just saying where we stayed.

If I wanted to brag would be saying about riding on same jet boat as Sean Lennon (Johns lad) and eating my dinner in a Como restaurant with some people you normally see in films.

If your in Bellagio Dougie your stuck because its a boat ride to get to the main places are else a very long road trip.

But I did manage to climb up to San Martino church (the little church on the ledge of the mountain) and zoomed in on Bellagio and the ferry docking.

Video will be released ASAP.

Yes Mick we found it was almost an hour just to get to Como from there then another hour to Lake Maggiore or Malan,
so we just sat back and let the driver do the work back hotel Embarassed why we had a drink Wink

Mick we've been all over the place with Shearing tours both summer and winter they are very good value,
we've even walked across the biggest lake in Austria Cool Zell-am-zee and been to the top of the highest mountain Gross-glockner
