Mick, the fifties for me were somewhat innocent and the swinging sixties swung right passed me.
I remember the sunken rose gardens in Piccadilly,a lovely haven in the centre of town (Mancunians always called it town), now concreted over in the name of progress.At Least Queen Victoria has her back tuned to the present monstrosity.It's a wonder they didn't cover her in concrete too.

The sunken gardens were still there in Piccadilly when I worked in Manchester in the late 80s.

I like the new look Piccadilly gardens and it get a lot of use when the sun is out.

It it had been left as the sunken gardens it would be full of down and outs.

It's behind TK Max in Ordsall. I think someone was trying to develop a marina, but ran out of money. A bit like the Tower Grand in Wigan!
