Does anyone know what you need to do to copy a protected DVD? I have seen some information somewhere? I know it can be done.

Hi thanks checked out the site but you can't download the software from that site. I have tried other sites but they all appear to be charging you for the programme? Have you got a link to a site where I can download it for free?

www.sourceforge.net has some of the best written free software around.

Do a search for "DVD".

Cheers.

Thanks managed to get it downloaded. I'll have to work out what to do<g>
Am I correct in my assumption, that you first have to download the DVD to your hard drive then burn it? You can't copy it 'on the fly'?

With dvd shrink you copy the dvd to your desktop in a new folder then when you have put it on cd you get rid of it

I am in the process of Encoding the DVD It is taking about 90 mins. When this has finished do I then need to burn it onto a blank DVD using Nero? Or does Shrink automatically do it? Sorry for being a bit numb<g>

Using DVD shrink is something most people who have tried to copy dvd'd have used at some time or other.
To get the best out of 'shrink' takes some work, time, and patience.

By far the best and renowned for ease of use and quality of end product is DVD decrypter.
A few things to consider when trying to do the thing you ask, is your P.C. up to the job? do you have a DVD drive AND a DVD burner?
If you have, then you can rip from one to the other, using something like NERO, but, not if its protected.
To rid the protection, you need something like ANYDVD http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html

Now there is an excellent tutorial and guide on installing and using DVD decrypter here: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=51575

A typical time to copy a dvd would be around 22 mins. from start to finish using this. dependant on your pc capabilities.
