History of Wigan   (Help with ancient and recent history.)

I know a few have mentioned the name belonging to the family and maybe i have missed something, but what i meant is does the word it self have a meaning.

People were often called after certain things they did many many moons ago Like Bob Baker because he was a baker Thomas Tanner because he worked with leather and such. Does "winstanley" have a meaning like these?
