I am looking forward to seeing the film , which has got some excellent reviews . I was wondering from a local viewpoint , if Bert ever appeared at Springfield Park for St Helens Town F.C. but it appears not , as they would have been playing in the Liverpool County Combination in season 1948-49 , while the Latics were in the Lancashire Combination . The following season however , (1949-50) St Helens Town FC did visit Springfield Park on Sept 19th drawing 1-1 in the Second Round of the Combination Cup and with Bert Signing for Manchester City on October 7th , it is likely he may have played in this game ? The replay was also at Wigan , but was only played on Dec 27th 1949 , Latics winning 2-1 , so Bert would be with Manchester City by then .
