Big John Lewis knew Him well ,Super guy ,did I relate the story of when He was in charge of Leigh East ,one of the Easts players who was a diabetic had brought with him a mars bar for half time and asked John to look after it till He needed it ,as they walked off at half time He said to John " Ast geet me mars bar john" and john replied "I've eaten it tha didn't want it now did tha" the player had to run to the nearest shop for a replacement ,good old John
