Hello Gideonfel,
whilst reading your comment it threw up a huge question mark in my head! With respect to Colin Clark not being able to play in that debacle of a final in 1966 i am sure it was just 1 game ban he got, but before answering you gideonfel, i have spent loads of time on google ,wigan warriors site ,anything i could possibly look into the actual record of his ban. I can't believe it i found all about the game but as to COLIN 's ban ...ZILCH and it really annoyed me .
The only reason i think it was 1 gideonfel was i do remember going to the match were he was actually "SENTOFF" which back then was totally inheard of. My dad (god bless him) and i were at the match like i said and the whole contingent of wigan speckies could not comprehend the sending off!! In those days it was common practice for penalties to be given for ""( feet up)"" in the scrum ,but to send a player off ..... never we all thought at that time that it was the usual crap from the H/Q and where poss hinder Wigan, which by the way happens today , so back to the story that week-end when we came home i sat down to try and write a letter to the then Lancashire evening post ( pink) for which i won a tie WOW. It was for my article condemning the R/L/H/Q. on the shocking display by the ref. SO i don't think any of us can claim to be right just yet gideonfel but thank you it brought back many memories happy (dad)sad the game and resulting final great talking with you .
