par for the course i'm afraid every manager in the last 50 years bar one has been sacked by united

If you already knew that for a fact why keep going on about "Utd not being a sacking club"

The fellow can have no complaints he came in saying it would take three months for the players to understand "his philosophy", maybe he should have studied the clubs philosophy, attacking entertaining football.
Has already stated some of the football played this season has been the direst since the Seventies.
No club has a divine right to win things or even finish in the top 4 but if you fall short playing entertaining football supporters will at least understand.
Lee Sharpe was on the radio a few weeks ago and he said he was still close to a member of the backroom staff who'd told him "van Gaal doesn't like players running with the ball". so football by numbers, enough said!
United couldn't afford to keep him another year falling further back and risk adding another three longer to turn it around.
As for Mourinho? Eighteen months ago I would have been against him taking over, but he does win games if not always with the flair expected of United teams, so there will have to be a compromise.
With most of the big clubs getting or recently having new managers(and City getting Pep} It has to be Jose.
The king is dead long live the king!
