I may be giving my age away, but does anyone remember reading about Sheila Fox aged 6, who went missing in 1944. It made such an impact on my young mind that I worried about her for years. I don't think she was ever found.
OK. I know she wasn't from Wigan. She was from Bolton, But news like this was unheard of in those days.
