Places   (Help with places, streets and buildings in Wigan.)

Brings back so many memories, I did my training there in about 1963/4 but my best memory was every week for a whole day I went with one of the old "firemen" to the other levels of the pit and did a walk around checking for gas and "fall ups" etc just me and him in all that level. Then back to the cage to go to another level for an hour or two.
There was so much stuff in that pit - unbelievable, huge great haulage motors and the like. Great experience for my short stay there before going to Kirkless etc etc.
