I also heard that out of the total of 52 appartments built only 4 remain unsold. Others are empty because the speculators who bought them with a view to renting or making a quick buck cant find buyer/tenents owing to the present economic climate and problems in the housing market.

A new lease on "The way we were" was proposed by the landlords but the council decided it was no longer cost effective to keep the museum open due in the main to the ever declining number of visitors so they cut the losses, closed the museum and moved out. The owners are now converting the property into office space, and why shouldnt they, they are a business and want to utilise it to make a profit.

I notice Gordons Honda have also moved out of the area, perhaps there is a connection??
