Places   (Help with places, streets and buildings in Wigan.)

Hi, Fred I came from the Mesnes Road area and yes I used to go to the Empress mostly on a Friday Night when they had the Rugby Ball The Cot Ball(a bed for the hospital) all sort of things going on I know it cost each time 5/- a lot of money in those days and my Aunt who used to drink Guiness used to save her bottles for me to take back to Maltby's and I think got a penny on each one and Marmalade jars cannot remember where I took those as you got a 1/2 penny for each of them ==see there was re-cycling even in those days but we got paid for it . I hope to come out again in a couple of years time , but sooner if I can afford it , I had a month out there and I loved Mandurah and my son took me to lots of places to see if I would like to live there but mmmmmmm not sure its a big upheavel I began to think there was noone of my age on here that remembered things I did, nice to talk to you Elizabth
