Hi Downall Green from the Garden of England. Hope that you are all settling into the new year. Dougie, glad to see that you are keeping everyone in order. I remember the Moor Lane pit and the Co-Op on the corner of Booths Brow Road, how many remember the open cast mine at the rear of Our Ladies Church/Coronation Street/Brockstedes Avenue and down to Drummers Lane. I think that the Blue Bell Cottages were demolished in 1943/44 as I had just started at Rectory School and remember one of the games that we used to play against the wall dividing the playground and the cottages. Also, as the war was still on, there were the air raid shelters in the field where we later played games. I am sure that Rector Hall died in 1961 as I was in the RAF and attended his funeral as one of the coffin bearers. Keep up the good work.
