Places   (Help with places, streets and buildings in Wigan.)

I have extract from Donald Anderson book. Wonder if rainford house was the home of the winstanleys originally.it was built 1665 so James would have been long gone by then .presume it was built by the rainford family. My winstanleys lived there in the 1800s.then my grandmothers uncle Nathan Richardson lived there in the 1880.
I knew it as shaws cottage down shaws lane . The shaws lived there in the 1950s.
I have a book called antiquarian society transaction.s.there is an extract by Joyce bankes on the records of mining in winstanley.will have a read through.
