In 1989 I took quick trip to UK after 23years of living in Oz and discovered I could buy Aussie beer like Fosters and Castlemaine XXXX but I must admit I was disappointed,so much so that in one bar I ordered a pint of XXX.The barman looked at me with confusion,so I said to him that if they'd served that back home they would been out of business.Even then he wasn't quite sure but then I realised it wasn't known as XXXX,just Castlemaine.On the strength of beers,I wonder if they still sell Old Tom and other strong beers at Christmas in England,I remember they had quite a kick.
