Hate to bring this up but English workers were classed as lazy here one time. The companies had signs on the door that said "no English need apply"My next door neighbour who died a few years ago told me the this. The signs had to be taken down after the war they were classed as rascist. The union i was in was run by English and Scotsmen. The president was from Manchester and i dont think he knew where the steel plant was. There were 13000 workers in there when i worked there.I have had a lot of visitors over the last 47 years and they all say how good the the help in the stores is and how polite and quick they are.The last visitor we had came from near the Half Way house in Pemberton and he actually took a photo of the men in one store and showed it to me.They lined up at the door every morning and welcomed in the first customers.I am in Wigan every year and i could tell you some stories you cant help noticing.
