Did Wigan Corporation buses run all the way to Leigh, or was it an LUT route ?

Originally the Wigan Corp route Ashton was number 1 and 2, 1 going down Wigan Road, 2 going down old road, the number 1 would drop off outside of the British School and then turn round on the junction with Gerard Street, doing a U-turn and stopping outside of the Queens Cinema on the return leg to Wigan, the number 2 went up Bryn Street and then turned left on to Gerrard Street, then stopping at the bus stop outside of Mark Williams and Slaters, before heading back to Wigan also stopping at the bus stop outside of the Queens.
