I half heard about this one, got a feeling it was something to do with the Poms that are here for the cricket - Seriously!! My fellow ex-pats may know more, had my eye on other things lately.
I think they are just stirring up the anti-discrimination mob, you can't say anything about anybody now without being called a racist but we have to cop the poms label, and I don't mind a bit, it is a term of endearment coming from an aussie. It just shows the strength of the relationship between the aussies and poms.
It depends on the way it is said, but if it is said in jest - it means you've made it. Even if it is not in jest then you don't let it worry you - just give them as much back and they will respect you for it, don't go whinging to the nearest Govt dept. that will listen to you.
