Have my windows wide open to enjoy the sun and fresh air, and the smell from a neighbours barbecue is drifting in.

It is not bothering me, or making me hungry, or owt like that.

The smell is not of food charring, but is the chemical smell of the starter fluid which these days most people appear be using to get their charcoal burning.

I do find, nowadays, in general, the aroma emanating from them is starter fluid rather as opposed to food.

It is still present when the meat is being grilled.

Does such a powerful aroma not taint the food?

Genuine question: I have never used those petro-chem starters, as I have a starter can which I put the charcoal in, and then apply the butane torch to.
